Local Femmes - Umeå market
When I started out with block printing I don’t know how many mental breakdowns I had before I finally got the hang of it. As people often say you don’t need a lot to get started - but it would definitely have helped me to have the right stuff from the beginning. I didn’t really have the petience to study too much before I got started.
So I went to the local arts supply store and got some random stuff. We only have one art supply store and the definitely don’t have material for block printing. But the day I went there they had one, old, left behind linoleum block (of course rock hard). The girl in the shop said acrylic paint should be fine. Other than that I bough a sketching pad and ordered a brayer. It did not go well at all, the paint of course did not work well and it was just a mess.
Anyways. After many trials and errors, trying out different tools and papers (forever ongoing probably), I finally found a setup I’m happy with. And I’m gonna share it here with you. I hope this can be of help. Feel free to comment if you have any questions.
